There are many products on the market today that are designed to help keep our pets safe in our cars. However, in our research, we noticed that very few products came with a safety certification. There are only a couple of different independent organizations that do certifications and they are expensive. They’ve tested seat belts and crates or carriers. It turns out that most products tested have failed the tests.

The companies that choose to get their products tested are striving to make a better and safer product. If they fail the test, they go back to the drawing board to address the points of failure. Smaller companies are not in a position to get their products tested due to the costs involved. It is not that they do not want to but more that they just cannot afford testing.

What I think might be the best take away from this research is that there are many small companies who cannot afford to have the certification done on their products. They are still well made products and it is on the pet owner to decide how they want to protect their animals while in a vehicle.
